Somerset North County Award

The Somerset North County Award is for members in the County, predominantly working at unit level, who have given excellent service.

The Somerset North County Award is intended to encompass all sections of guiding. The term unit should be interpreted in its broadest sense.

Requirements

This award is for members who:

  • Have shown commitment over a period of at least five years in Girlguiding Somerset North
  • Demonstrate that they are following Girlguiding’s Volunteer Code of Conduct

Criteria

Recipients must fulfil at least three of the following criteria:

  • Have contributed via an appointment at District/Division level
  • Have actively supported District/Division events
  • Kept up to date with Guiding developments, including attending trainings as appropriate
  • Maintained a successful unit, with a quality programme following the principles of the Five Essentials
  • Work well with their immediate team and are supportive of their wider local team

Application process

Applications must be made using the Somerset North County Award application form, which can be downloaded below.

The form can be completed electronically and should be submitted directly to the County Commissioner.

The deadline for submissions is 1st March and 1st October each year, prior to consideration by the County Awards Committee who will consider each application on its merits.
